Top 12 Moisture Wicking Shirts for Men in 2024
When choosing a moisture-wicking shirt, consider factors such as the type of activity, fit, and fabric preferences. These shirts are popular choices based on their reputation for effective moisture management and overall comfort.
If you exercise correctly, you are likely to sweat. And that’s a good thing: if you’re sweating, your body is working. So whether you’re doing cardio with a long run or sprints on the treadmill, or trying out a new strength-training plan, there is nothing worse than working out in a soaking wet t-shirt. Not only can it overwhelm you, but it can also get sticky and create chafing, making your workout miserable. That’s why you must choose a moisture-wicking fabric for your training shirts that will draw moisture away from your skin, quickly dry sweat and keep you cool the sweatier you get.
Moisture-wicking fabrics are synthetic, designed to manage moisture better than traditional materials. According to REI Co-Op Journal, there are small spaces for the liquid to move through the material through “capillary action,” according to REI Co-Op Journal. When you sweat in a moisture-wicking shirt, the fluid quickly moves to the garment’s outer layer, where it dries instead of rapidly saturating the fabric. Since these synthetics manage moisture well, they are perfect for exercise clothing.
These fabrics include polyester, Gore-Tex, nylon, and spandex. Double-checking the labels on your top or reading up on the materials it’s made from will help you choose the fitting tops for your workouts. And luckily, you can find moisture-wicking fabrics in tanks, short-sleeved T-shirts, long-sleeved T-shirts, and hoodies.
To help you out, we rounded up 12 moisture-wicking shirts that will keep you dry and cool, no matter how much you sweat.

Best Moisture-Wicking Work Shirts To Keep You Dry All Day
The Science Behind Moisture-Wicking Shirts Essentially, moisture-wicking fabrics draw moisture into the top layer of the shirt, so it doesn’t sit directly on your body. Moisture-wicking shirts and pants are also usually made with a more breathable fabric to keep you cool during excessive heat.
The brightly colored and designed sports t-shirt from Cloth Co. is our favorite for its outstanding performance. This t-shirt, initially intended for hikers and cyclists is 100% polyester.
It is made from 108g cationic polyester interlock fabric. That means it’s colorfast and won’t fade over time. It is lightweight and allows freedom of movement, which is essential for athletes and manual workers.
These shirts are water-wicking and ideal for athletes and professionals who do heavy manual work on construction sites or industrial sites.
We found the wide choice of 22 colors to be the essential feature. This visibility function is additional safety on construction sites. Available sizes range from X-Small to 4XX-Large.
Benefits
The inconvenience

A work shirt is essential for any craftsman, worker, or member of senior management. It will keep moisture in your skin and remove sweat stains. Colleagues and clients will be careful not to let a colleague sweat. The moisture-wicking properties of the fabric will move work away from the skin and allow it to evaporate.

Evaluation
In New York, we had a few sweltering and humid days. Quite simply, ideal times to discover lightweight, sweat-wicking t-shirts. The test involved working them all on the ground, street, sidewalk, and sand, to contrast and compare texture, weight, and how quickly the sweat dried. The shirts were washed to observe how they woke up in a washing machine and timed to determine how quickly they dried after being soaked. We rated the peaks from fastest to slowest drying.
The shirts
1. New Balance Q Speed Short Sleeve
The Q-rate is the thinnest and lightest of all the tops I have analyzed. The stretchy nylon and polyester fabric features a bonded construction, so there’s no chafing. Although with light as a feather cloth, this is normal. One thing to watch out for: It’s so thin that there’s a chance it might find a little static, not a problem as soon as you start sweating inside.
2. Patagonian Windhunter
Made from recycled polyester, this moisture-wicking shirt is just as perfect for a long hike on the Pacific Crest Trail as it is for getting a 5K. Reinforced shoulders and a wide neck allow for compatibility with backpack straps, meaning if you’re cruising, this top is a great choice. It’s also infused with a Polygiene odor controller, so there’s no problem if you sweat a lot inside. Hang it up and wear it again and again. It’s built for ultramarathoners, so no matter what space you’re running in, you’re ready.
3. The North Face Better Than Naked Short Sleeve
We loved the sheer hand texture, and super stretchy shoulders and neck of this top meant to help you run endlessly. Close see-through seamless. Equipment. Ultrarunner Rory Bosio swears by the shorts and skirt of the same material because they rub and are therefore super light. We have to agree that the top does the same thing.
4. Asics Gel-Cool Short Sleeve
Designed by the same men and women who have been making shoes for marathoners and sprinters for decades, it’s no surprise that Asics understands a thing or two about sweat-wicking t-shirts. 3D zoning on the trunk, a vertical field of material along the spine, allows sweat to escape and simultaneously cools the entire location. This paper-thin fabric is almost visible through its light. The kind of this side cut mimics the manner of split shorts, something you’ll typically see among hardcore or elite runners.
5. Outside Voices Cool Runnins Tee
Made from 100% recycled polyester, this mesh t-shirt offers enough breathability that you feel a light breeze, but not so much that you feel colder with each passing stride. Although the material resembles the mesh jerseys we wore for high school athletic uniforms (shut up, trust us), it looks much better. I wouldn’t have wrinkled my nose when I needed to be the opposing team in a scrum while wearing a Runnins fashion tee.
6. GapFit Sports Tee
As most of these products, this tee is simple, fits well, and does exactly what it claims. It’s incredibly soft for the way it wicks away sweat (it dried faster than the Tracksmith T-shirt full of merino wool, which we found surprising). The seams of this are not sealed. However, the breathable jersey knit with gDry wicks away sweat before chafing occurs. After a particularly vicious loop around the neighborhood road, the tee sticks to my spine as others have.
7. Tracksmith Harrier Tee
Coming in plenty of bright colors (purple, yellow, bright blue, and green), this merino/spandex blend is a fan favorite for Tracksmith workers, and after testing, we could see why. The easy tee is devoid of redundant layouts and just about every symbol except for a bit of bunny on the left sleeve and a Tracksmith emblem near your right hip bone. It’s inspired by Boston’s winters and springs and is designed to keep you warm on icy mornings while wicking sweat from midday runs. Merino is a little itchy at first, but after a few great clothes and a clean wash, you’ll hardly notice it. Slightly longer short sleeves allow for a bit more coverage,
8. Rhone Celliant Short Sleeve
One tester called this a remarkably great shirt. Using its Lululemon vibes, just-for-men brand Rhone established its Celliant technology ahead of this season. The seamless construction makes it breathable and incredibly flexible, and thanks to the SilverTech yarns, there won’t be a problem with odor-causing bacteria after sweating.
9. Endeavor Evolution Tee
The relaxed, comfortable fit is great for all-day wear, mainly because the polyester-nylon blend fabric with DryForce technologies handles your sweat like a champ. The extra perforations under the arms make it airy, almost to the point where I forgot I was wearing a top. Testers also wore this fabric in an indoor cycling class, where you promised to sweat buckets and found it to be among the most comfortable shirts to wear during this type of workout.
10. Lululemon Metal Vent Tech Short Sleeve Tee
Wearing it at the end was crucial; it didn’t feel exceptionally breathable when I originally put it on. Silverescent technology using X-static helps prevent stink, while the absence of stitches minimizes chafing. Compared to this list, it’s a lighter fabric than the merino wool choices, but like the Endeavor t-shirt with all the side perforations.
11. Under Armor HexDelta
Even the hexagonal pattern is visible, helping to retain a minimal amount of heat for all those not-quite-springy but still breathable mornings throughout a run. The upper is light enough to go through a strong breeze yet dries quickly on particularly sweaty days.
12. Filson Sports Tee
The heaviest of all the tees we reviewed, this one is perfect if you like using a bit of weight for your tops. Sometimes the weak are not limited to training functions. UPF 50+ means you can do more than just run, shooting the ship, city, and mountain built to take on the battle. While running, the top goes well with you, maybe not bouncing up and down or swinging at a boring level. With the blend of three cotton fabrics, rayon and spandex are softer than almost any t-shirt here.

What Should I Look For When Buying A Moisture Wicking Shirt?
Fabrics and designs that allow breathability will benefit you more for long hours.
When it comes to moisture-wicking, moisture management is critical. Your work productivity will improve if you don’t feel sweaty, sticky, irritable, or tired.
A moisture-wicking shirt with protection is a good choice if you’re working in direct sunlight.
Some work shirts are not designed for warmer climates. A lightweight shirt can be a good choice, but it doesn’t guarantee you won’t sweat.
The shirt must be made of a fabric that allows breathability and keeps you dry. Work shirts can be made from many different synthetic materials or combinations thereof.
- nylon
- Polyester
- rayon
- spandex
Natural fabrics, such as
- bamboo fiber
- chambray cotton
- Hemp
- linen
- merino wool
- silk
- Cotton mixed with other materials
When making shirts from one of these fabrics, your goal is to allow air to circulate to wick away moisture and keep you comfortable. Some shirts may even have mesh panels.
Others will equip with microbial treatments that neutralize odors caused by excessive sweating.
Here are some essential features to consider when selecting the best moisture-wicking shirt you can wear for work.
Fabric weight. Excessive heat can make you uncomfortable and prevent you from concentrating on your work.
The more sweat a shirt fabric can absorb, the heavier it is. It will also take longer to dry. Thicker material will absorb more moisture if you sweat a lot. However, he will also increase his weight.
When choosing fabrics, you should consider lightweight fabrics. You must allow perspiration to pass from the outside of the shirt to your skin.
Breathability. Professionals who work outdoors or are involved in manual labor should wear work shirts with moisture-wicking properties to allow air circulation.
The shirt can have underarm ventilation or quick dry features. Work shirts should be breathable. A shirt that sticks to the skin is not what you want. You should have enough material to allow air circulation.
Short or long sleeves?
It will vary depending on your personal preference, but short and long sleeves are available with moisture-wicking properties.
A long-sleeved, breathable, and lightweight shirt can choose. The long sleeves can roll up at least partially.
Styling. Your personal preferences and work environment will determine the style you choose. Lightweight casual t-shirts are the most common work shirts with moisture-wicking properties.
Although they may be more fitted than others, you can always go up a size for a more relaxed fit. While polo shirts can wear casually, they can look more professional when worn with a jacket or blazer.
Button-up shirts can be worn casually but are ideal for business. Buttons can be looser, which can lead to greater comfort.
When shopping for any work shirt, you should keep other qualities in mind:
Durability. High-quality fabrics will last for many years, even in harsh working conditions. Although cheaper, poor-quality materials may not last as long.
No iron or wrinkle resistance. No-iron or wrinkle-free shirts are a great option if you’re a professional and don’t have time to iron and wash your clothes.
Easy maintenance. Easy-to-wash shirts make your life easier. You will have to spend more time caring for your clothes if you handwash them. You will pay more if you have to send your shirts to the dry cleaners.
