25 Best Places To Visit In The United States

This list is by no means exhaustive, and there are many more incredible places to explore in the United States. Each region offers its own charm and attractions, catering to a wide range of interests and preferences.

After two long trips through the United States, we have visited many incredible places that will remain forever in our memories. Although if we have learned anything, it is a country in which, beyond its controversial political and social systems, it would take a lifetime to be able to visit all its beautiful corners. But in order not to get overwhelmed, we will start with what are the 25 best places to visit in the United States.

We left out other exciting ones, sorry, but we have this post where we tell you 100 things to do in the US…Hopefully, we can discover all of them! Although before we start, we have to confess something: the United States never particularly caught our attention; what’s more, the truth is that we didn’t have much interest in visiting it. Until, as always happens in these cases, we found a very cheap flight and decided to cross the Ocean to give it a try. And wow, we loved it!

So far, we have spent about four months in the United States, divided into two trips that have been some of the best. So go ahead and get rid of all prejudices and give this country a chance; full of unique cities and natural wonders!

25 Best Places To Visit In The United States

1. First, if you only had a few days to visit the United States, we have no doubt: New York is the most exciting city in the world! When you see her for the first time, it will seem that you already know her (think of how many times you saw her on the big screen), but believe us, you will be surprised! In this post, we tell you our top10, and here we leave you 100 things to see and do in New York.

We spent a whole month in the Big Apple during our second visit to the country, and wow! It was one of the most amazing experiences we have had (we would love to repeat it).

2. Traveling Route 66 was a dream that we were able to fulfill over 11 days, and doing it in a vast motorhome made the trip even more epic. The Mother Road presents itself, and it is one of the experiences that many travelers have marked in red. Of course, if you are not used to life on the road and quiet road trips, perhaps you know little.

3. If New York is the soul of the United States, the heart that makes the country move is its capital: Washington DC. If you’re traveling along the East Coast of the United States, this is a must-see stop (and even from New York), not just to see the White House or the Capitol.

Washington has some of the most interesting (and free) museums in the country and a neighborhood (Georgetown) that is an absolute delight. Here we tell you what to do in Washington DC in two days.

4. The idea is to start the tour of this area of the United States in Boston. The reason? You can find very cheap flights there, and it is not a place of passage at all. With a long history and its fascinating mix of neighborhoods (such as Chinatown and the North End or the Italian quarter), Boston is a city that knew how to conquer us from the first moment.

5. We jump from cold, wet Boston to one of the hottest places on the planet: Death Valley. It was one of the stops on our road trip along the west coast of the United States and possibly the one that surprised you the most. Yes, it is hot (even more so if you have a heatwave in which we reach 55 degrees). However, this national park offers landscapes almost alien to our planet, with desert, dunes, salt flats, mountains of colors, salt basins, and very suggestive corners. Of course, bring with you a lot of water! So we visited Death Valley.

If you want to visit the United States but do not dare to do it on your own, we recommend you look at this 8-day West Coast tour. It could be a perfect first trip 😉 and you repeat the same for free.

6. Let’s turn down the heat a bit and travel to Alaska, albeit mentally. It is a destination that has eluded us for the time being, but believe us when we tell you that it would be the place we would like to fall if we could teleport. And why go to these distant wildlands? The plan to search for bears (even in the distance), whales of tranquility and emotions, lost villages, and a little house in the woods with a fireplace and puppies for housesitting, doesn’t sound bad.

7. Another of our great traveling dreams in Hawaii. Our friend Eva was there a few months ago, and she made our teeth so long that we scratched the floor XD. If you can go, do not hesitate!

During the trip through the United States, we see it essential to have the internet on the mobile. The easiest and most comfortable way is to get an eSIM from Holafly. The best thing is that being virtual (the order arrives by email), you can request it from anywhere. The only requirement will be to have a compatible mobile. Oh, and from this link, you have a 5% discount 😉

8. As we anticipate, the United States is a territory full of natural corners of overwhelming beauty. And the best example (and the best known) is, without a doubt, the Grand Canyon. As much as you have seen it in photos or movies, it is impossible not to shudder at this massive crack that the Colorado River has been excavating over the centuries.

In addition, as in the rest of the national parks, the visit is much easier with viewpoints, trails, buses, and a very well-prepared information point. We tell you how to plan your visit to the Grand Canyon.

9. Although, when it comes to places that leave you goofy for a while, Horseshoe Bend isn’t far behind. Robert even puts it ahead of the Grand Canyon. This horseshoe-shaped bend in the Colorado River is much bigger (and taller) than you might think! A stop that you cannot miss if you travel to the West Coast of the United States, and here we tell you about our journey.

10. Along with New York and San Francisco, Chicago is in the top 3 of our favorite cities in the United States. If you like architecture, this is your place. And the pizza, the parks, the art. Come on; everyone wants Chicago!

11. We doubted whether or not to include Atlanta in our trip to the East Coast, and finally, after spending a few days there, we believe that it is an exciting city to visit. At first glance, it may seem like one of the hundreds of huge cities that grow like mushrooms throughout the country. Still, in Atlanta, you can see things as different as the Coca Cola Museum, the Martin Luther King House, or the headquarters of CNN. Here we tell you everything you have to do in Atlanta.

12. The one we wanted to visit if or if it were New Orleans because we knew it was one of those places we would like before going, hehe, and it’s excellent! Tip: don’t miss a trip to Oak Valley, a beautiful plantation (albeit with a slave-owning past that’s no fun).

13. Although its traffic is crazy and its extension is so great that more than a city, it looks like a small country, Los Angeles is worth a visit on your trip to the United States. Even if it’s to watch the sunset from the Santa Monica Pier, stroll through the canals of Venice Beach to have a great time at Universal Studios, or gossip about the mansions of celebrities in Beverly Hills (hey, it’s not so bad after all!). These are the best things to do in Los Angeles.

14. One of the West Coast parks that most captivated us was Bryce Canyon in the great state of Utah. Seeing its peculiar rock formations (hoodoo) with the appearance of a fairy chimney (seriously, they are called that XD) has been a tremendous step. Safety pin.

15. But, if we had to choose one, it would be Arches National Park. Here you will find substantial stone arches that seem to have been sculpted by an artist, but in reality, it was one of the many whims that nature has in American territory. Learn more about visiting Arches National Park.

16. We have passed through San Francisco a couple of times, and we hope that there will be many more in the future! It was the start and endpoint of two epic road trips, one through the national parks of the west coast of the United States and the other through the state of Oregon. If any of these is in your plans, do not forget to reserve at least three days for this city, which we assure you will be hooked! Do not miss Chinatown, its famous Golden Gate, and a visit to Alcatraz and its parks. It is all there is to see and do in San Francisco.

17. I wanted to go to Seattle since I saw Grays Anatomy for the first time, and I fell in love with its skyline. After a few years, I was finally able to fulfill the dream, and indeed his profile of him does not disappoint, with his Space Needle as the main protagonist. We loved their coffee vibe, cafes everywhere (including the first Starbucks), and alternative and underground. Although beware, because apparently, it is becoming the new Silicon Valley! Here we tell you the best things to do in Seattle.

18. We don’t know (yet) Yellowstone, but that doesn’t stop us from putting it on the list of things to do in the United States. This geothermal park has almost 9,000 km2. There are wonders such as waterfalls, geysers, geothermal springs, and rivers, without forgetting the famous Great Prismatic Spring, a hot spring characterized by its bright colors (due to pigmented bacteria). It is better to visit the park without making much noise, less the supervolcano that sleeps under it wakes up and sends humanity to hell.

19. If you like to know the history of the countries you visit in the United States, you should spend a few days in Philadelphia. Several of the most critical chapters in the future of United States history took place here (such as the signing of Independence). If you are also a fan of Rocky, you can walk the City Museum of Art stairs like him. Perhaps with a little more effort. Here we tell you more about visiting Philadelphia.

20. San Diego, with its beaches and proximity to Mexico, is known as the southernmost California. The city may have disappointed us a bit. Still, it may be because our expectations were VERY high. The best thing is that a short distance away (speaking in terms of American spaces, hehe) is Salvation Mountain, a place that we instantly fell in love with. It was our time in San Diego.

21. Ever since I followed Angie’s journey down Route 61, I’ve known that sooner or later, we will too. It’s an incredible journey from Memphis to Nashville to New Orleans, three cities connected by love and passion for music. From rock and roll to blues and jazz. A full-fledged musical journey.

25 Best Places To Visit In The United States

22. The endpoint of our first two-month US trip was Miami. We arrived with the battery low, and it was hot, so we wanted to go back to enjoy it to the fullest. In this little piece of Latin America in the United States, you can enjoy a wide variety of restaurants, an exciting nightlife, endless beaches, and why not treat yourself and take a cruise through the Caribbean. More ideas of things to see and do in Miami.

23. Another visit that we have pending is Savannah, one of the most charming cities in the south (in Georgia). And hopefully, we can do it in the spring, when Savannah puts on her best clothes de Ella.

24. We didn’t go to the Grand Teton National Park either, but by seeing their photos, we wanted to set foot in Wyoming and get lost with a stroller through those dreamlike landscapes. We have to organize a big trip to the north of the country.

25. Where we did make a road trip was in Texas, and we loved it. It is a state that, a priori, you have all the ballots to make us want to get the hell out of there, but look, we fell for the Texan charm. It has exciting cities (like San Antonio and Austin), charming towns (Gruene, Fredericksburg), and its barbecues, the mother of beautiful love! We wouldn’t mind coming back with more time at our disposal. It was our road trip through Texas.

Conclusion

We are left out of this list of the best places to visit in the United States, incredible places such as Big Sur, Antelope Canyon, Sequoia National Park, the stunning Crater Lake National Park, and the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, OR Canyonlands. But well, the 25 that we have shown you is a good start.
